Testing Communications between Host PC and Vision PC

  2. Procedure
    1. Setup
      1. Get a laptop from the tool crib and the serial cable from the job rack.
      2. Connect the cable from the control to the laptop computer.
      3. The device constants settings
      4. Vision NT … com1
      5. Vision PC … com1.
      6. Open the chkcom program on the Laptop
    2. Send program from Vision NT or Vision PC to Laptop
      1. Press F4 on the Laptop
      2. Type in a file name to receive from the Vision Control. Press enter. This sets the Laptop ready to receive.
      3. Go to the MDI window then select F1 on Control.
      4. Select the icon with PC in it
      5. Press F2 and select the file you wish to send.
      6. You should see the contents of that file on the screen of the computer. F6 will clear it out.
    3. Send Program from Laptop to Vision PC or NT.
      1. Press F1 on the Vision Control to receive a file from the computer.
      2. Select F3 on the Laptop
      3. Type in the name of the file you wish to send. Press Enter
      4. You should see the block numbers changing. Then the control will ask for a filename.
