Punch Marking

Print Print
•    Deepest marks
•    For use on metals only
•    Ideal for drill hole center point marks

The Punch Marker system uses a pneumatic hammer with a hardened steel point to mark the plate surface.  Capacitive height control is used to follow the plate during marking.  Single point marks can be made, as well as lines and text.

The Punch Marker is usually installed on medium and large sized machines, such as the Avenger or Sabre gantry. The use of a punch-marking device is highly efficient when the plate must be drilled in a subsequent operation by initially creating the drilling spot to be tooled later on.  The punching frequency and punching power are adjustable and allow the CNC controlled punch marking of dots, lines or letters.  A marking speed of 120 ipm is usually recommended for longer lifetime of the tip device.

The punch marking process can be very loud, depending on the plate thickness, but if a water table is used, noise can be reduced by raising the water level to the bottom of the plate.

Punch Markers are available on many larger ESAB CNC Cutting Machines, including:
