CNC Plate Marking Processes

Print Print
•    CNC controlled marking and cutting sequence
•    Automatic tool offsets ensure accuracy
•    Character generator simplifies text marking

ESAB’s philosophy is to continuously research ways to maximize productivity.  Cut part processing often involves marking text, lines, or other marks on the plate surface.  With ESAB’s Vision CNC, the marking process if fully automated, all parameters are automatically set by the control, including the tool offsets required to accurately place the marks relative to the cut.  Highest accuracy is ensured by marking each part first, then performing the cutting.  Optimum results are achieved by automating the process and adjusting the program sequence to balance cycle time and accuracy over the entire nest.

To make it easy to add text marking to a part program, ESAB’s Vision CNCs can be equipped with “Character Generator” software.

This software feature allows the machine to write characters on the plate without having to program the motion for each character.  Characters to be marked are programmed in plain text, and can be easily read and edited by the machine operator prior to starting the program, for last minute changes or data entry.

Popular types of plate marking tools that are available on ESAB cutting machines include:
